Planning for the 5th Annual Hill and Valley Exploration Tour is Happenin’!
The Hill and Valley Exploration Tour: A celebration of rural living is a unique opportunity to explore the vibrant and resilient small farm economy of Northern Sauk and Richland Counties! The 5th Annual Hill and Valley Exploration Tour will occur on the last two full weekends in September – September 18-19 and 25-26, 2021!
On the tour you will easily find local food and art producers, learn about the changing face of rural America, dine at a true Farm‐to‐Fork country eatery, find hidden gems, and visit a historic Folk Art site. Don’t forget to bring your cooler to hold all your farm fresh purchases, an extra sweater, and the mud boots; this is country fun — rain or shine!

The Picturing Sauk County Trail
The Picturing Sauk County Trail will return for a 3rd year during the 5th Annual Hill and Valley Exploration Tour!
Take the Hill & Valley Exploration Tour and find the Picturing Sauk County Trail of framed vistas along the way. These decorated metal frames are at various locations on the tour, providing opportunities for photos while enjoying the gorgeous landscape of Northern Sauk and Richland Counties. Make a memory!
This project, inspired by David Wells’ Farm Framed, is supported in part by a grant from the Sauk County UW-Extension, Arts & Culture Committee and the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin.

Colossal Hay Art Sculptures - Back in 2021!
Two Local Farmers with lots of space, talent, and heavy equipment are installing large hay sculptures for your, and their, entertainment. These sculptures are available for your viewing enjoyment for the two weekends of the Hill and Valley Exploration Tour. Come as you are and make memories on the Hill and Valley Exploration Tour!

About Knuth’s Narrow Creek Farm:
Isaac and Stephanie Knuth raise Herefords. They have 3 sons and also own a Concrete company. “We love Farming and living in the country!”
About Joe Meyer and Sons Dairy:
Joe Meyer and Sons is a 5th generation dairy farm dating back to 1918. We currently milk 400 Holstein cows in a double 12 parallel parlor, three times a day. Boer Goats, a hand full of chickens and the occasional pig can also be found on the farm. Our family looks forward to the arrival of fall and creating a new hay sculpture together.
