Don and Dorothy Harms, lifelong Wisconsin Dairy farmers, now operate a working grass fed beef farm which offers the sights and sounds of the country – from sandhill cranes returning in the spring to newborn red angus calves frolicking in the pasture with their mommas.
The 255 acre farm is a mix of woodlands, pastures, rolling cropland, and wetlands supporting abundant wildlife and our grazing cattle. The spring-fed pond is a welcome stop for migrating geese and birds. Valley Springs Farm has been operated by the Harms family for over 135 years with Don as the 4th generation.
Are you curious about a farmer’s job producing milk and meat for the public? “Farmer Don” is willing to share his lifetime of farming experience with you. On our farm tour, you can meet our farm family of cows, goats, chickens, & our farm dog Max or get your picture taken with one of our antique John Deere tractors.
Dorothy’s love of gardening and cooking was the initial start of living the dream of operating a bed and breakfast. As you enjoy the flower gardens decorating their farmstead or visit the vegetable garden and orchards to see what is in season, please know they are all a labor of love for Dorothy. Dorothy is certified as a Master Food Preserver so canning and freezing the garden produce are her specialties. Dorothy’s Homemade Delights (homemade jams and jellies) are available for purchase during your visit.
