The Greener Grass Collective at Idaho Valley Farm is a small family operation in its fifth generation here in The Greater Lime Ridge Area of Sauk County. We’ve evolved over the years from dairy to a grass based rotational grazing operation and our aim is to produce the very best grass fed beef, chicken, and heritage breed pastured pork as well as hazelnuts, cherries, apples, pears, farm made goods and more. We’ve remodeled the bottom floor of our old granary to serve as a farm store which will have goods for sale of our own as well as select offerings from producer friends of ours. The Hill & Valley tour will be a sort of Grand Opening for us and we are proud to be a small part of such a great combined effort. We will have local art on display and for sale, preserves, honey, jewelry & oils from The Avant-Garde Oil Enthusiast, Wisconsin CBD from Green Owl Wellness, and so much more!
We look at farming as less of a job and more of a responsibility and have accepted the role of steward out here in The Driftless, taking what we’ve learned from the echoes of conservationists like Aldo Leopold and John Muir and integrating that knowledge and attitude with our grassland agricultural practices. Decisions here are made with the ecosystem top of mind and it is our goal to farm the most we can while taking the least by being a part of a natural system rather than taking control of it.
The farm is family friendly with over an acre of park to play in, hiking trails, picnic areas, pollinator gardens, games, and learning opportunities at every turn. You can find The Greener Grass Collective at Idaho Valley Farm on facebook or visit our website at www.greenergrass.farm. Stay tuned for new offerings and seasonal hours of operation!
