Back in 2018 we worked with J & M Fundraising and did a Butter Braid Fundraiser. The money from the Butter Braid sales was used to pay for Porta Potties along the Hill and Valley Exploration Tour! It was a huge success! So, we are trying it again. Order your Butter Braids between August 19th and September 13th – online with a credit card or in person with cash or check from any Hill and Valley Exploration Tour Venue – and pick up on the last weekend of the Tour September 26 and 27 at the Branding Iron Roadhouse Farm-to-Fork Eatery, Main Street, Lime Ridge! Proceeds will be used to fund Porta-Potties along the Hill and Valley Exploration Tour route!

What is a Butter Braid you ask? It is a flaky, yeast pastry that is fool-proof to bake. The photo is a picture of a Butter Braid that we baked. So simple – Thaw, Rise, Bake, Eat! Butter Braids were a Midwest secret! In 1992, Marlene and Ken Banwart started a bakery in their rural farming community in West Bend, IA. Marlene and Ken kept their new business a secret – they were worried how their farming community would view their non-farming business. Twenty-six years later, hidden gem cottage industries such as Butter Braids can be found in rural communities throughout the Midwest! Fall Harvest Farm Dinner – Sunday, September 27, 2020

A celebration of the 4th Annual Hill and Valley Exploration Tour and Fundraiser for the 5th Annual Tour, the Fall Harvest Farm Dinner is a true farm-to-fork dining event. Held in the field at the beautiful home farmstead of Kathy and Frank Dwyer, the Fern Creek Retreat, Hillpoint, WI, this event epitomizes the best of rural living with beautiful vistas and incredible, fresh food.

Ingredients for all dishes are sourced from the participants of the Hill and Valley Exploration Tour: A celebration of rural living, September 19-20 and 26-27, 2020. Lisa Buttonow, Branding Iron Roadhouse Farm-to-Fork Eatery, Lime Ridge, and Nick Wingate, La Crosse, are your culinary tour guides for this event. Menu to be released closer to the event and after the fall harvest.

Hiking the Fern Creek Retreat is encouraged; please wear the appropriate foot gear and dress in layers as this event is outdoors.

The Brown Paper Ticket price is a deposit of $25. Total price for the event is $70 excluding tax and gratuity. Remainder of event price ($45), tax and gratuity will be collected the day of the event and may be paid in cash, check or credit card. Proceeds from the on premise Cash bar go to the 5th Annual Hill and Valley Exploration Tour in 2021.

Hill and Valley Exploration Tour Community Kickoff Event at the Reedsburg City Park. Come to the Reedsburg City Park on Friday Night, September 18th to celebrate rural living and the fourth annual Hill and Valley Exploration Tour. Free Entertainment by the Union Road Band. Wood-fired Oven Pizza by the Branding Iron Roadhouse Farm-to-Fork Eatery. This event is supported in Part by Compeer Financial.

The 2020 Fourth Annual Hill and Valley Exploration Tour: A celebration of rural living is moving to the last two full weekends in September. 

Union Road is known for their multi-genre variety of music ranging from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, through current hits. With something to please every crowd, Union Road appeals to easy-listeners and boot-scooters alike.

Country Maid started as a cottage industry in a rural farm community and developed into the fund-raiser partner of choice for many schools and groups!
